ODC Cast and Crew 500x281

Other Desert Cities

I tried to audition for this show, which was difficult to do considering that at the time of auditions I was still in Florida participating in my Disney World internship. However, the director had an open mind and allowed me to audition with a video. That was a totally new experience, and a bit of an embarrassing one at that. However with growing technology, online auditioning is on the rise so I think it is important to experiment with and I am glad I attempted it. I have included the link to my Other Desert Cities audition for perusal.

Since this show is so interpersonal, with good reason, I did not get cast since I could not be seen interacting with the other actors. I did get the opportunity to be the Properties Master, and that turned into a process that was stressful and rewarding all the same. This involved decorating a tree in a "sleek and modern" way, wrapping multiple presents in a "way that makes it look like someone was paid to wrap them", as well as researching information about shops in California, attempting to create a Los Angeles Times newspaper (coffee grinds and tea are your best friend), getting the aid of the photographer Paige Bowman to photoshop multiple pictures, creating a book cover, and finally putting together a fully functional bar area for the actors to play with. I admit I am a clumsy person. I am not very artsy, and did not know how to do much before Other Desert Cities. Through the huge assistance of Lisa Quinteros, I was able to gather and create all the necessary props. Never will I ever underestimate the value of being a technical crew member. Compared to this- acting is easy!
